Deon’s Fitness Blog is a resource for all things related to exercise and fitness. As of 2022, it’s clear that health is important and having a fitness routine is essential to long term health. Many people were scared into exercising because they were afraid of a virus.

That was a good wake up call for people. Exercise is critical to a good immune system. It’s not about looking a certain way necessarily or doing crazy workouts. You just need regular exercise.

There’s a lot of bad information about fitness and our mission is to provide clarity on the topic.

I’ve tried so many workouts and there’s a lot of fad workouts to lose weight fast like P90x and Insanity. I’ve tried them both. They’re great for people who are serious about getting in shape, but it’s not really sustainable.

What is sustainable is making sure you stay hydrated, which means drinking about half your body weight of water. You drink 1 oz per 2lbs. So for example, if you weight 200lbs, then you should be drinking about 100 ounces of water every day.

You should also get some sort of movement going every day. Depending on your routine, it could be taking a light walk in the morning, or if you like to get working first, then taking a walk in the evening after work is great too.

Besides, walking you should also get some basic resistance training at least. If you don’t have equipment, you could do push-ups, squats, jumping jacks, planks, sit-ups, crunches, and burpies.

Lifting weights is great too because it’s not only good for you muscles, but for your bones too.

Nutrition is often overlooked in the industry in terms of a sustainable weight that’s not a “diet” per-se.

Whether, you’re vegan or a carnivore, there are some basics you should follow.

Aim to get somewhere between somewhere near 75% of your body weight in pounds of grams of protein. If you’re 100 lbs for the sake of an easy example, try to eat at least 75 grams of protein. You can go up to 1.25X your body weight if you want to gain muscle.

The rest of your calories should be split between carbs and fat.

I spoke earlier about misinformation. Some “experts” say carbs cause weight gain. But it’s just not true. A calorie IS a calorie and the undeniable fact is that if you consume less calories than you expend, then you will lose weight. And vice versa. Or if you expend the same, you’ll stay the same weight.

Now to have a healthier physique, you’ll want to follow the protein recommendation. Somewhere between 75%-125% of your body weight in pounds of grams of protein.

Carbs and fat aren’t hard to find in foods. You can eat whatever you want, but if you want healthy organs, then healthier food is better.
